Yorkshire Day 2013 Declaration!

East Riding Flag for Yorkshire Day

HAPPY YORKSHIRE DAY!

The image above shows the East Riding of Yorkshire Regional Flag registered this year (see The Flag Institute).

Oh, and for the traditionalists, this is the Yorkshire Day Declaration made at exactly 11.37am.

I, Hedon Blogger, being a resident of the East Riding of Yorkshire declare:

  • That Yorkshire is three Ridings and the City of York, with these Boundaries of 1137 years standing;
  • That the address of all places in these Ridings is Yorkshire;
  • That all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshiremen and women;
  • That any person or corporate body which deliberately ignores or denies the aforementioned shall forfeit all claim to Yorkshire status.

These declarations made this Yorkshire Day 2013. God Save the Queen!”

  1. Whilst the Yorkshire Flag was flown at the Town Hall on Yorkshire Day, the picture shown may be not this years. I believe the flag is not the correct way up, the green sepal should be at the top for the East Riding.

  2. Hedon Mayor and Mayoress Yorkshire Day Skipton

    THE HEDON MAYOR Councillor Jim Lindop and MAYORESS Sue Lindop spent Yorkshire Day representing Hedon in Skipton, along with Mayors and civic dignataries from across Yorkshire. The Mayor told us:

    “A fabulous day in Skipton celebrating Yorkshire Day on behalf of the people of Hedon. Over 250 civic guests attended, on what was very hot day, a flotilla of 14 canal boats that took guests down the Leeds-Liverpool Canal into the centre of Skipton. A parade followed up the main street to the Holy Trinity Church for the official service.

    Photographs were taken in the Castle Grounds which appeared in the Yorkshire Post with others to appear in the newspaper’s Magazine either next week or the following week.

    A great day celebrating this great County, Gods Country!”
