Viking FM is offering someone a lifetime opportunity this Summer to start a media career and become a Radio Presenter!
The Summer to Stardom Live auditions have already taken place in Grimsby, York and Princes Quay in Hull, and Samantha Atkin (22) from Hedon has got through to the next round which involves meeting the Boss at Viking FM today (Friday 22nd August 2014) along with 41 other hopefuls.
After today’s meeting the 42 will be whittled down to just 18, each of whom will take part in a one day Presenter’s Academy at the Viking FM studios in Hull.
So what’s it take to be a Viking FM presenter? Breakfast show presenter Sean Goldsmith speaking about the competition in July described the qualities he thinks are needed: “We’re looking for someone who can just be themselves whilst chatting about the things they like doing and the things they don’t; someone who’s just very natural.”
Samantha has a good chance of winning; she’s already used to being in the public eye having been a former member of Hedon Drama Group and performing in productions whilst studying performing arts at Hull University (Scarborough campus). If successful in the next round then we might catch her more in the ‘public ear’.
Samantha said: “I’m the only one from Hedon through to the next round! Though there is someone from Bilton too! Both doing our part of East Yorkshire proud. But the next stage is gonna be tough so keep your fingers and toes crossed for me!”
We are sure that Hedon folk will want to support our girl in the competition – so please keep your ears open and listen to the latest updates on Viking FM!
