FOLLOWING the successful Christmas Lights switch-on in Hedon the Mayor Councillor John Dennis and Mayoress Mrs Jennifer Dennis have awarded the certificate for the best-dressed, seasonal window.
The winner this year out of lots of very good entries was Cinderella at 16 Market Place, Hedon. Sandra Ramsden, the owner of the business selling a wide range of items for the home and individual, says she makes sure that Cinderella has an ever-changing window-display normally reflecting the things available for sale. Sandra says she can’t take all the credit for the Christmas display because husband Paul helped too!
Cinderella was certainly keen to welcome the festive season to Hedon being one of the first shops in the town to put up Christmas decorations. Sandra praised the other premises that took part in the competition and said that the town was such a great place to shop and visit at this time of year: “It’s lovely to see the shops and other buildings all getting into the Christmas spirit and making the town look so nice. There’s so much work gone into these displays – I feel guilty to have won!”
Mayor John Dennis said: “The standard just gets higher and higher each year and arriving at the decision as to which seasonal window display is the best has been particularly difficult this time.
However, after much deliberation, Jennifer and I have awarded the 1st Prize in this year’s competition to ‘Cinderella’, and the runner-up is ‘Johnsons-of-Hedon’ with their first ever entry.
“Very many congratulations to them both, and to all of those who entered.”
