GRAHAM STUART, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, joined a group of residents from Iveson Lodge in Hedon for one of their regular coffee mornings and to hear some concerns about maintenance of the building.
Mr Stuart said, “I had a great morning at Iveson Lodge. The residents are full of energy and enthusiasm and make a formidable group when it comes to discussion of how Iveson Lodge should be run. They raised some issues about improvements that need to be made to the building so I’ve written to Sanctuary Housing to ask for a condition survey to be done and to make improvements here a priority in their capital programme.
“It’s encouraging to hear residents taking a pragmatic approach with energy efficiency measures featuring as a top priority. There are a number of boilers at the property that are quite old and tenants want to see them replaced with newer, more efficient ones. The windows are also causing some concern as residents say they let too much heat out and too much noise in.
“I hope Sanctuary Housing are able to take a serious look at these complaints so that residents are able to enjoy more comfortable and affordable living conditions.”
Mrs Margaret Elder of Iveson Lodge said, “We very much enjoyed Graham’s visit to Iveson Lodge, he was able to offer constructive advice about focusing on the priorities for improvement in the building. We’re grateful he was able to take time out to call in for a visit and would welcome him back again at any time.”
