Sharron's bakery

“SHARRON’S” traditional homemade baking shop opened in Hedon three weeks ago and the eponymous business owner – yes, she’s called Sharron! – intends to be trading in the town for the long-term.  Sharron is not new to business and has had a small unit in Hull for the last year from which she organised catering for events – everything from christenings and weddings to wakes – but her new shop in Hedon has its own ovens meaning she can ensure that daily fare is baked fresh on the premises every morning.

Sharrons leafletHaving previously worked as a lab technician and in factory work for 20 years, opening the shop has obviously been something of a dream for Sharron and the outcome of her lifelong enthusiasm and passion for baking. Taught by her mother to cook, Sharron in turn has passed on those skills to her children; but she would like to pass on more than that to them seeing the business more like a legacy that she can leave. “I intend to be here for a long time at the Market Place and would actually like to look at buying the premises and so owning everything about the business outright too,” said Sharron with a quiet determination and confidence about the shop’s future.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, the shop at 18b Market Place in the Old Mill complex between Hedon Green Print and Cinderella sells typical lunchtime offerings of sandwiches, toasties, wraps and pasta dishes, but Sharron is particularly pleased with her selection of sweets. And her sausage rolls were especially recommended to me by two members of the public who told me about the shop in the first place – and yes, I would share that recommendation about the rolls too – very nice indeed!

  2. Good Luck Sharron. Your hard work deserves success. We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve tried so far, especially the coconut tarts.
