Special Youth Group sessions in Hedon for young people with additional needs?

HEDON YOUTH GROUP is exploring the idea of arranging youth club sessions particularly for young people with special needs, as youth group leader Scott Burton explains:

“The Hedon Youth Group and has been open now for 5 years and is run solely by volunteers. Any young person between the ages of 11 years and 16 years can attend the group session on a Friday night between 7pm and 9pm.

“Although we aim to ensure that all young people in the community are able to be included in this group and currently support some young people who have additional needs and disabilities, we do recognise that not all young people may be able to access the group.

We are keen to hear the views from parents and professionals of what they would want from this group. For example, would parents and young people access a session if we provided one? What days and times would be suitable? What ages of young people? Any views and comments would be appreciated.

“Although our current volunteers do have experience of supporting young people with additional needs, we would also be grateful for any further support in the running of this session.”
