CAMILLE has taken over the helm at the Yorkshire Mobility shop at New Road, Hedon. She intends to build on the good work started by previous incumbant Cheryl who has moved on to the ‘seaside’ at Hornsea to work at the company’s store at the Freeport.
Camille (43) will already be quite well-known to local health-conscious shoppers in Hedon and district having previously worked at one of the local pharmacies for 8 years. So she’s already quite used to dealing with people – particularly those with medical conditions that debilitate – who want to make informed choices about daily living aids and about products that can help make life more comfortable and contribute towards maintaining independent living.
Yorkshire Mobility to the uninitiated might be seen as all about mobility scooters – and indeed they have an impressive range – but in actual fact they sell a whole range of products aimed at making everyday living activity easier. From medical cushions to grab rails, from walking sticks to wheelchairs Yorkshire Mobility has the lot! “We’re quite a small shop,” says Camille “but we have a wide stock range. If we don’t have what you need here, then we can get it for you.” The Yorkshire Mobility Catalogue lists over 600 products available.
Living in Hedon herself for the last 16 years, Camille is keen to see Yorkshire Mobility become part of the town’s vibrant local community. “We’re quite happy to get involved in the local community and support craft shows and charity events. We can set up a stall of our products – and as ever we would be available to offer advice to those seeking it.”
Help, support and advice seems to be available in abundance at the shop; during the course of the Hedon Blog interview with Camille one caller wanted some informal help with a medical bed purchased from elsewhere, another had asked for some personalised stickers – all jobs which don’t form part of the official job description but seems to have become the norm for someone who genuinely cares about providing a quality service to customers.
As part of promoting HedFest I tell Camille about the Hedon Carnival which is likely to include a contingent of decorated bicycles – I cheekily suggest that mobility scooters could be decorated in the same way. She’s taken aback at first by the suggestion, but then there’s a twinkling in the eyes….
We’ll see what becomes of this germ of an idea!
