Beacon lit to mark Queen’s Birthday

beacon.jpgHER MAJESTY Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 90th Birthday on 21st April 2016. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, Beacons will be lit that night across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the United Kingdom Overseas Territories, marking this unique moment in history.

The 669th Mayor of Hedon, Councillor Neil Black, with family and friends, will be lighting the Hedon Beacon on Market Hill at 7:30 pm on that night to mark the Royal occasion.

Notes:

On Thursday 12th May – Sunday 15 May 2016, The Queen and Members of the Royal Family will attend a pageant celebrating The Queen’s life to be held at Home Park in Windsor Castle.

The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year; her actual birthday on 21st April and her official birthday on a Saturday in June, this year Saturday 11th June, when Her Majesty, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, will attend at The Queen’s Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade. Monarchs whose real birthdays have not been in the summer months have often held an official celebration at a time when the likelihood of good weather is higher.

  1. Luckily my real birthday falls on Midsummer’s Day ( June 24th), so I can combine my Official and real Birthdays on the same day; though its no guarantee of good weather.
